Lumberton girls varsity soccer stuns Terry Sanford 4-1

Lumberton hands Terry Sanford its 1st defeat of 2008 season

Lumberton's varsity soccer team stunned previously undefeated Terry Sanford on Wednesday with an impressive 4-1 win in Fayetteville. The decisive win lifted the Pirates record to 4-1-1, while the loss dropped the Bulldogs to 5-1. Lumberton and Terry Sanford are traditionally strong soccer teams with an intense rivalry.

The visiting Pirates kept the Bulldogs in a defensive mode much of the evening as they racked up their four goals. Lumberton's Head Coach, Kenny Simmons, was particularly impressed with an early goal that came on a spectacular header by Morgan Haskins (7). Lumberton will host Cape Fear on Monday, March 17th, while Terry Sanford faces Purnell Swett at Pembroke.
