Purnell Swett defeats Reynolds Asheville After a sluggish start early in the game, the Purnell Swett football team rallied to come from behind with a touchdown and a two-point conversion just before halftime to take the lead, 22-21, in a playoff game against Reynolds Asheville. 	Lumberton football makes playoffs The Lumberton football team has earned the right to compete in the state playoffs after their convincing 28-12 victory over E.E. Smith on Friday night in Fayetteville. The Pirates will travel to Matthews, near Charlotte, this Friday to play Matthews Butler, a team that has lost only two games this season.

Lumberton football pounds Cape Fear The Lumberton football team defeated Cape Fear 33-6 in a game played on a wet field with intermittent rain. Lumberton knocked out Cape Fear with several big running plays, including Stargell Love's 42-yard TD run, William Blanks' 47-yard TD run, and Craig Stephens' 50-yard rush for a touchdown. In addition, quarterback Dionte Rogers teamed up with receiver Michael Breland on a 25-yard touchdown pass.
